‘Goodbye Olympic’ heads to Int’l Unseen Film Festival

‘Goodbye Olympic’ is to vie at 2020 Int’l Unseen Film Festival in Spain.

Iranian short flick ‘Goodbye Olympic’ has found place at the competition program of the 2020 International Unseen Film Festival “Film Sozialak” Bilbao in Spain.

Mojtaba Pourbakhshi’s directorial debut ‘Goodbye Olympic’ will be screened at the 12th edition of the film event, known in Spanish as the Cine Invisible (Festival International Film Sozialak 2020 Bilbao).

The short film is about a sailor who faces many ups and downs on her way to reach Olympic.

Announced by the festival’s website, ‘Goodbye Olympic’ narrates the story of a Kayaking champion who is waiting to leave for France to attend a race which is an Olympics qualifying event. The departure of her team will be canceled over some unexpected problems.

‘Goodbye Olympic’ also competed at some other international festivals this year, including Houston Asian American Pacific Islander Film Festival (HAAPIFEST) in the US (June 4-7, 2020), the 16th West Chester Film Festival in the US (April 24-26, 2020) and the 30th Mediawave Film Festival in Hungary (April 27- May 02, 2020), the 53rd WorldFest-Houston Int’l Film Festival in the US (April 17-26, 2020) and the 11th Beijing Int’l FICTS Festival in China (July 13- 19, 2020).

Later this year, Porbakhshi’s short film will also vie at the 23rd Liberec International FICTS Festival in Czech Republic.

The 18-minute short is also the winner of an honorable mention at the 2020 Waterwalker Film Festival (WWFF) in Canada.

Ramin Rastad, Farajollah Golsefidi, Houman Javadi, Mehri Alaqa, Tahereh Amouzadeh and Maryam Jahani are some of the cast members of the short film.

The International Unseen Film Festival 'Social Films' from Bilbao is an annual celebration which allows global filmmakers to reflect through their audiovisual works all the problems of humanity.

The 2020 round of the festival will take place on August 20-22.
